"The Well", 1.7 miles south. Untreated, clean, pure, free Artesian well water. Northwood is fortunate to be near "The Well," also known as Well No. 5 or the 164th Street Artesian Well, is in excess of 400 feet in depth and is cased to approximately 120 feet.  The well flows at a rate of about 10 gallons per minute. The source of water at the well is an underground aquifer (water-bearing layer of permeable rock, sand or gravel).  The well taps the Intercity Aquifer at approximately 200 feet. As a courtesy to residents, Alderwood Water District maintains this flowing artesian well as a community source of water for those who prefer untreated water. Grocery Shopping: A short 1.3 miles west on 148th St SW to Safeway, and 3.4 miles mostly east to Albertsons. Several specialty ethnic groceries are also nearby.

Restaurants: Although this is very subjective, the webmaster recommends the following two nearby restaurants without hesitation: Without a doubt, Azul Lounge is a "must try".  They boast of Mexican/Carribean cuisine, and they do not disappoint. You have not had the best Carne Asada (or Carne Asada Salad) until you have tried theirs. Here's the menu. I've heard the Weekend Brunch from 9-3 is excellent. Don't miss their Happy Hour Menu. Check out the food photos at Yelp.

Not far away from Azul, and owned by the same company is Indigo, on 164th St SW just west of I5 near Fred Meyer. Definitely a local favorite, offering food made from scratch--with fresh ingredients. Plenty of local craft beer, over 100 bourbons and a diverse menu full of urban comfort food. There's something for everyone! Open daily for lunch, dinner, two happy hours and weekend brunch! Highly recommend this establishment. Here's their Yelp Page, check out the food photos.

Picnic Point Community Park, 4.2 miles west. Located on the shores of Puget Sound, Picnic Point Park offers a tranquil and scenic setting for picnicking and beach activities.
